Solar power has one very obvious problem: it only works when the sun is shining. In India, where we have plenty of sun, we have generated massive amounts of power. But the peak hours when people need power (early mornings and evenings) are not the peak hours for solar generation. Why We Need to Store Solar Power A massive new solar park can create GigaWatts (GW) of power at noon. If the grid cannot take all of that power immediately, that energy is wasted. We must store that power at noon so we can use it during the evening peak hour or when it is cloudy. This makes the power grid stable and reliable.
