India’s solar manufacturing ambitions, driven by schemes like PLI, are producing incredible numbers. We see new cell and module plants being announced every month, and India’s capacity to assemble finished panels is growing rapidly, a significant corporate shift we track regularly. However, if we look closely at this growth, we must acknowledge a fundamental, yet often hidden, vulnerability.
My opinion, from analyzing global clean energy supply chains, is this: India will not be a true global solar manufacturing superpower until we successfully secure the polysilicon core.
